The Bears Lair is a Super Sweet intimate performance venue at a private home in North Austin. All shows are done on a suggested donation basis, and All proceeds go directly to the artists themselves! Proprietors Stevie Bear & Amy Mashberg have been hosting local and travelling musicians from all over the world for over 20 years now, as a labor of love, and a way of giving back to a community that gives so much to so many. The outdoor space at The Bears Lair is an amazing and magical space to experience, and can hold up to 75 comfortably, with some space for spill overs or standing room only. Soft Lighting outlines the towering oaks overhanging two stages, while fans supplementing the seasonal breezes, and a natural mosquito misting system helps keep the ample decks and patios comfy for our attendees and artists.

Fair weather or foul, The Bears Lair has it covered, as we also have room indoors for up to 25 attendees, should the need arise, depending on the size of the performing artist/ group. Bathroom amenities are available of course, as are some chairs, and a small selection of snacks and non – alcoholic drinks, all at no additional charge. We encourage attendees to bring along collapsible chairs, blankets, coolers, and snacks, and ask that everyone drink responsibly, and treat our home as you would your own, picking up after yourself, and placing any disposables or recyclables in the appropriate provided containers.

Many shows are family friendly, but some shows are better suited to an adult audience, so best to check with the venue before bringing children along, and you can do so @ 512-997-9250. Also, while we do what we can to make The Bears Lair accessible to all, there are a few steps to navigate, both indoor and outside, so if you have any special needs or mobility issues, again, best to call in advance to check on feasibility for your particular situation. Full refunds (minus pay pals small handling fee) will be given for any artist cancellation or artist re-schedule that a pre-paid attendee may not be available for.

Last, but not least –  it’s all about the experience! We want our artist and attendees to have the best entertainment experience we can provide. For most shows, doors are at 7pm, and shows start at 730pm, and are over by 11pm. Times for each show will be posted with the show on The Bears Lair site at http://bearslairaustin.com/ . Most artist bring along some kind of merchandise, CDs, T-shirts, a tip jar, etc. and the performing artists generally circulate through the attendees while on break, chatting with attendees, and signing merchandise in this fabulous intimate setting, where you will have the opportunity to connect with the artist in ways that you may never have had before!! So – come comfortable, come prepared, and enjoy your experience at The Bears Lair by topping it off with a signed memento from the artist you saw at The Bears Lair, and remember – All Proceeds Go To The Artist!!
